3mm thick Flood Trap tape sticks to a door's frame & over its threshold. Closing the gap between a door and its frame when dry it acts as an effective and invisible draught excluder, helping to save on heating & cooling.

As it becomes wet, our composite tape automatically swells to form a water resistant seal through which flood water can seep in very slowly giving you more time to protect loved ones and property.

Why not a 100% flood water proof ?

Water will always find a weak spot. If floods are shallow the water damage is limited and so easier to address. If floods are deep the property would be likely to face serious damage as the water would press harder against walls until the pressures on either side equalised. Better that the water seeps through slowly than to risk the flood water damaging a wall or other structural compoents of a building.

When 6" high water was applied up a door with old weather strips 95% more water entered (4.4L/10L) than when Flood Trap Tape was used (0.2L/10L entered) as you can see in this video.

Quick, easy & effective it can be applied in advance of a flood so you have a bit more time to take care of people and property you want to protect the most.

Background information

In 2007 the UK Government asked Sir Micheal Pitt to review the effects of sandbags for household use. In the report's executive summary you can read that they found no evidence that sandbags were effective for household use. It was this report that lead to the development of the product you see here, Flood Trap Tape.

A clip of a test commissioned by Flood experts Mary Long-Dhonau OBE the Queen of Floods and Simon Crowther "The Flood Guy®" on You Tube shows how water can bypass sandbags, if not used correctly they do little to stop the flow of water through the door. 

Flood Trap Tape provides a much more effective flood barrier to sandbags. By limiting the speed at which water seeps through it buys you time to ensure people are safe and property damage is limited.
